Forari Manganese Project
Overview
The Forari Manganese Project is a flagship development initiative led by Forari Resources, focused on revitalising historical manganese operations on the island of Efate in Vanuatu. The project aims to build a sustainably operated, high‑value manganese supply chain that maximises local participation, environmental stewardship, and long‑term economic benefit for Vanuatu.
Location
The project is located at Forari, on the eastern coast of Efate, approximately 45 minutes from Port Vila. The site has a long history of manganese exploration and mining, with operations dating back to the early 20th century.
Resource Potential
Historical studies and early modern assessments indicate a significant near-surface manganese laterite resource, suitable for cost-effective extraction and processing. Key points include:
- Historical resource estimation shows approximately 800,000 tonnes of material, with the potential to produce around 360,000 tonnes of concentrate grading 45% Mn.
- Approximately 20,000 tonnes of high- and mid-grade product are currently stockpiled and ready for shipment. Recent sample analysis indicates stockpiled material with ~40% Mn (Mn) and ~52% MnO, confirming a commercially attractive, export-ready grade suitable for processing or direct market sale.
- Further drilling is expected to define additional resources.
- Several nearby areas with similar geological characteristics have already been identified, with exploration programs scheduled to commence in Q2 2026.
Project Strategy
Forari Resources is progressing the project through a staged, low-risk development plan:
- Resource confirmation and technical studies
- Environmental and community engagement
- Concept evaluation
- Market positioning
Commitment to Vanuatu
The project is built around long‑term partnerships with the people and Government of Vanuatu. Key commitments include:
- Local employment and training opportunities
- Support for community development initiatives
- Transparent engagement with customary landowners
- Environmental protection and responsible resource development
Current Work Program
The team is advancing:
- A geological review led by senior exploration specialists with deep Pacific experience
- Community and landowner engagement activities
- Early-stage engineering and processing concept development
- Permitting and regulatory pathway definition
Vision
The vision for the Forari Manganese Project is to establish Vanuatu’s first modern, commercially successful, and sustainably developed mineral operation—creating long-term value for local communities and contributing to the nation’s economic growth.
